By joining the D51 IB pathway, your student will be well prepared for the transition to high school. After 8th grade, they can continue the
final two years of the MYP at Palisade High School, with the option to advance into the IB Diploma Programme. MYP students are often especially well prepared for success in the Diploma Program (DP).
MYP Framework
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is built on a framework that helps students grow as learners and as people. Learning is concept-based,
so students focus on big ideas that connect across subjects and to the real world. They also build important Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—such as collaboration, research, communication, self- management and critical thinking— that support success in every subject. Learning is explored through global contexts, which help students understand issues from different perspectives and see their role in a changing world. Assessment is authentic and criterion-based, meaning students show what they know and can do through meaningful tasks. At the heart of the MYP is the IB Learner Profile, which encourages students to be inquiring, caring, reflective, and open-minded individuals.
